| A perfect beach ... |
|
| Wonderful aqua water and white sand await you at the main beach in the little town of Akumal. A large section of the water has been roped off, and cleared for wading and swimming. You can arrange snorkeling, diving and fishing trips from here. The "hole digging" is pretty darned good too!
Akumal is a town of bright colors, good food, fun restaurants, small shops, and friendly locals, ex-pats, and tourists.
Yal-Ku Lagoon and the reef in Half Moon Bay offer great snorkeling -- you'll see hundreds of fish, and maybe even a turtle or two. The ruins and beaches of Tulum are only a few minutes away, and Playa del Carmen, Chichen-Itza, Aktun-chen, and other sites are day-trip options.
The half-dozen or so restaurants in town offer a wide variety of food -- from Italian to great baked goods, from beach burgers to elegant dining, with a spot for homemade ice cream in between. There's always a place open for a quick beverage, or long afternoon break.
